Fawning All Over

As promised, today I’ll be featuring This is a Fawn’s Leda dress by OMGWTF Barbecue.fawn1

In reading OMGWTF’s blog I learned that this dress was inspired by Rodarte’s earliest collections which incorporated cobwebs of lace and transparency in beautiful watercolours  reminding viewers of Leda and the Swan.   The result is a semi-transparent, babydoll-esque dress complete with hammered bustier and panties aptly named, Leda.  And don’t forget the foof! Very foofy.

I certainly appreciate the reason for the transparency, however for me personally it walks the fine line between dress and lingerie.  That’s the beauty about this dress is it can really be either!

You can see in my first picture I’ve left the transparency settings as is (40), however, the skirt is mod and by setting the transparency to zero you can really see the texture work and soft gradient colour. What you can’t see is the panties and skin.  This would be my personal preference for wear around the grid, with the former being reserved for photos and more intimate scenarios.  Yes, I’m a prude.

The quality and quantity of OMGWTF’s collection is certainly increasing and I look forward to seeing what This is a Fawn’s new mainstore will hold.  You can look for the grand opening tomorrow, July 11th from 7PM – 9PM SLT at the Starlust which promises new releases, sale items, and music.  And in the meantime, check out her moving sale with 50% off of everything and a new item in the lucky chair.  Last day!

Yes, another reminder.. the NOH8SL gallery is opening today at 2pm SLT! I may have my mouth open in the above picture, but if you’d like to see it taped shut (lol) you can see my picture there as well as the other 349.  Even better, if you were unable to get your picture taken with Trace Osterham there will be a photo booth set up with props available to help you join the movement. Check back on NOH8SL.com for a SLurl prior to the event and all photos will be available for download on the site afterwards.

Now on to the second half of the title.  Surf Couture recently released some cuteness!

With a full line of dresses and separates, not to mention sandals and shades, I would definitely recomend popping by Surf Couture for your summer staples if you haven’t already. My favourite store of the season thus far! Also, Maitreya not only released their Hair Fair contributions, but three other hairstyles as well! I love them all <3.

P.S. (Preview) Coming up is the Leda dress from This is a Fawn which will celebrate its mainstore grand opening this Saturday at the Starlust sim.  I’ll have all the details next time (soon!). Congratulations OMGWTF Barbecue!

I have a few new(ish) faces I’d like to introduce you to..

blowpopface

Annyka Bekkers is back with a new line of Blowpop skins and while I’ve always been impressed with her work, this newest bunch has blown away previous expectations.

Each name not only has a distinct range of skin tones and makeups, but the facial details completely transformed the look of my avatar from one skin to the next.  It should be noted that I used the same shape for each, so you can really see the difference the skin makes.

Each makeup also comes with two different lip options ending the battle of nude vs. bold.  If you’re an indecisive shopper like I tend to be, having the choice of both in one purchase should prove very helpful.  And for the eyebrow girls, it also includes three different shapers.

blowpopfull

For me, the face always sells the skin, but there are two areas of the body I pay particular attention to – the collarbone and the abdomen.   Both are done exactly the way I would hope.  The collarbone is beautiful enough to catch the eye, but doesn’t protrude unecessarily and the abdomen is shaded to perfection without falling in to the six pack trap.

If you’ve got a partner, chances are there are other parts of your body he/she cares more about, but they’ll be happy too! Annyka’s attention to detail fully extends to the umm.. centre of the blowpop and she makes the cutest bums.

I guess what I’m trying to say is – if God is in the details then hallelujah Annyka!

P.S. I’m partial to Ava.

“I think that people who can’t believe in fairies aren’t worth knowing.” -Tori Amos.

Granted, it’s pretty hard to believe in a fairy without wings, so I will cut you some slack.

While this look may not seem like your typical outdoorsy attire, there are a few references to nature which helped to inspire the fairy-ness.  Neutral colours combined with blues and corals set the tone, while the sculpted petal skirt and flower accessories amplify the theme.

Another important part of this look is the skin.  I love when makeup can be bold, yet still soft and pretty and Pididdle’s Lien skin in Float does just that.  And even better, from June 1st – 10th Pididdle is having a sale with all Lien skins marked down to 450L to coincide with their photo contest. More details and information on that can be found here.

I aaaalmost went barefoot for this look, but finally decided on ballet slippers as I like to think fairies would have a natural aptitude for that sort of thing.  Seeing as I’m lacking wings, if I can’t fly I better be able to dance :p

All in all this look is one that makes me feel a little lighter and happier and isn’t that what it’s all about?

P.S. Fairies, Faeries, whichever.

Layer Cake

It’s a good movie, good food, and hopefully, a good post.

closeup

Necklaces are without a doubt my accessory of choice at the moment, so much so that I couldn’t decide between these two and decided to layer them instead.  \o/ for indecisiveness! The lovely necklace with the burnt orange rosettes is an upcoming release from Tenshi Vielle’s Boutique and the triple strand of pearls (tendwatchers say this is a big one and I love them!) is another favourite from Atelier AM.

Despite the indulgence in jewelry, the outfit itself remains a casual one and the layering continues..

triopose

Both tops are from Surf Co. and as you can see the tank top alone is quite revealing (cue cleavage and side boob!), so if you dare to bare by all means do – it’s a great little tank.  However, I erred on the side of modesty and used the top part of the cabana dress, which also served to add a bit more depth to the colour scheme by adding a dash of red to the neutrals.  Beyond that, simplicity prevails.  A nice dark pair of skinny jeans and some ankle boots and I’m ready to catch a set at The Velvet . Oh, and the hat? I think that’s the icing on the cake!

A special thank you to Tenshi Vielle, Emma Gilmour, and Torrid Midnight for sharing your creations with me! Much love!

Haha I apologize for the title, but I couldn’t resist.  Buck is good too.

wb_005-copy2

Whippet & Buck is a relatively new store on the scene, though you’d never know it by looking at the clothing.  It was originally an offshoot of Dakota Buck’s, Savvy?, and is now owned by her RL best friend known in-world as, Twiggy Whippet. I’ll quote directly from the store profile, “we’re classing up the joint”, and they weren’t lying.

wb2

I think pencil skirts are great, but I think pencil skirts paired with suspender style straps are really great.  As with all of the store’s inventory, this skirt comes in a varitey of colours, but I couldn’t resist the blueberry yum yum effect of the purple on blue.  Just a few racks over was the answer to my question, “what to wear with this?”, and at 60L a pop I’d definitely consider this boatneck shirt a staple.

Shoes anybody? Admittedly, shoes aren’t my “thing”, but Pixel Mode’s 50L sale had me pretty damn excited about shoes! It was a stroke of luck that Pixel Mode’s Berry shade was a near perfect match with Whippet & Buck’s Bordeaux as these shoes make the outfit just a little bit saucy.  Bon apetit!

-Hayden

P.S. I’m currently loving skins with painted lashes.  So much so,  I’ve gone prim lashless for days (srsly).
